A few items, unrelated to the ongoing BP assault on our shores, that we wanted to highlight:

W. D. Childers’ bribery conviction overturned. Earlier this week a federal appeals court overturned the 2002 bribery conviction of former State Rep. and Escambia County Commissioner W. D. Childers, ruling that the trial judge erred in not allowing Mr. Childers’ attorney to cross-examine Willie Junior on particular issues. Mr. Childers has already served his prison time, but the successful appeal will allow him to petition the state…

Rename W. D. Childers Plaza now

Many of you have known for some time that former State Senator and Escambia County Commissioner W. D. Childers is scheduled to be released this week from state prison, where he has served nearly three years after being convicted of bribery charges.
