At a special meeting this morning, the Escambia County School District, the School Board, and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church came to an agreement regarding the purchase of the former Brownsville Middle School property.
Friendship will purchase the property for just over $1 million. It plans to renovate the deteriorating building into a community centre to service the Brownsville community.

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and its pastor LuTimothy May have been negotiating with the Escambia County School District to purchase the disused Brownsville Middle School property. The church, which has about 600 members, wants to renovate the building into a community centre to serve one of Pensacola’s most depressed and crime-ridden areas.
