Round-up, 04.16.10

A few items we wanted to highlight today:

Crist vetoes SB6. In case you didn’t notice amid all the Tax Day excitement, Governor Crist did veto SB6, the controversial education bill. We’re glad he did. The bill would have taken more control away from local school districts and tied teacher pay to FCAT results, among many other flaws.

A few items we wanted to highlight today:

Outzen on City races. Rick’s Blog offers up predictions as to who will run for various City offices. Mr. Outzen predicts that current Mayor Mike Wiggins and City Councilwoman Diane Mack will run for mayor, and that if Councilman Mack does run for mayor, Councilman Sam Hall (District 2) will file to run for the At-Large B seat on Council. He also mentions David Stafford, Hugh King, and Ashton Hayward as potentially interested in the mayor’s race…

IN sits down with Aronberg and Gelber. The Independent News sat down with State Sens. Dave Aronberg and Dan Gelber, Democratic candidates for Florida Attorney General, both of whom were in Pensacola last week for a candidate forum at Washington High School. Both candidates are incredibly impressive. Senator Aronberg in particular, though, has been to the Pensacola area several times over the last few years and is remarkably on top of the issues…
