Realtors endorse Wiggins

The Pensacola Association of Realtors, a trade association of local realtors and realty firms, has endorsed Mike Wiggins as their preferred candidate for Mayor of Pensacola.

According to the group’s site, candidates “were screened by a panel of PAR Realtors and asked questions relative to the real estate industry, private property rights and economic development.”

Cannada-Wynn takes Reeves money

City Councilwoman Jewel Cannada-Wynn accepted $750 in contributions from three companies controlled by IPC honcho Jim Reeves.

Councilwoman Cannada-Wynn faces a tough challenge from architect Brian Spencer. She raised $2,251 in the F2 reporting period, which covers July 17-30. Mr. Spencer has not yet filed his F2 report, but he did report $2,850 in contributions on his F1 report filed last month.

Spencer challenging Cannada-Wynn

Architect Brian Spencer filed today to challenge incumbent Jewel Cannada-Wynn for the District 6 seat on the Pensacola City Council.

Mr. Spencer is founder of Spencer Maxwell Bullock Architects. His wife Crystal is an attorney who served as chairwoman of the Charter Review Commission, which developed the new City Charter that was approved by voters last year.

Wiggins under attack

Mayor Mike Wiggins is under attack from some pro-charter advocates for his plan to run for the executive mayor position next year despite his opposition to the charter.
