Polls closed; turnout low

The polls are now closed and voter turnout in both Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties appears to have been disappointingly low.  Escambia County Supervisor of Elections David Stafford pegs Escambia County turnout at 10-15%.
When I went to vote at Precinct 90 in Eastside, I was the only person there.

Rally 2008 thoughts

I’ve enjoyed watching the Rally 2008 series on WSRE this week.  I’ve still got last night’s installment to watch, but here’s my take on some of the races and candidates who have appeared:
Escambia County Sheriff
I thought that both Democratic candidates did well.  I enjoyed the back and forth between David Morgan and Ron McNesby.  Morgan [...]

Primary predictions: Lower boards

ECUA, District 1 (R)
This is a universal primary and this race will be decided in this election as there are no members of any other party in the race.
The prediction: Incumbent Logan Fink will win reelection; however, it’s hard to predict how much of the vote Harlan Jennings will be able to get. [...]

Escambia County Commission, District 1 (R)
The winner of this election will face Democrat Stephen M. Davidson in the general election. District 1 is solidly Republican, however, and Davidson has neither the profile nor the money to make the race competitive, so in my opinion, this race is decided in the primary.
The prediction: Robertson over [...]

Primary predictions: County-wide races

Escambia County Sheriff (R)
The winner of this election will face the winner of the Democratic primary for the same office in the general election.
The prediction: Incumbent Ron McNesby, with a substantial money and influence advantage, will squeak by David Morgan, that said, it will be a lot closer than it was four years ago. I [...]

Primary predictions: State races

Public Defender (R)
The winner of this primary will face Democrat Tony Henderson in the general election.
The prediction: James Owens will beat Kelly Merritt Richards in a close race.
What I wish would happen instead: I don’t care all that much, but if I had to pick, I’d say I wanted Kelly Merritt Richards to win, because [...]
