Reeves subverting Council

After being appointed by the CMPA this afternoon, Jim Reeves immediately sat down and assumed the role of a CMPA board member and began voting on items. This contradicts the resolution adopted by the City Council last night, which intended for the CMPA’s appointment today to not take effect until it had been approved by the Council.

Mr. Reeves argued that he was now an incumbent and did not need approval. However, the resolution took effect immediately upon its adoption last night. He was not an incumbent at the time the resolution came into effect.

It gets worse. Now he’s proposing the CMPA resist the City Council’s attempt to take control of appointments to the board, arguing that the CMPA should appoint ALL its members (keep in mind the City currently appoints four outright).

These are exactly the sorts of shenanigans we anticipated.

This is very disheartening. It’s difficult to live here, see this type of behavior & maintain any hope for progress.
