Racetracker: City Council, District 4

The Pensacola City Council is the legislative body of the City of Pensacola. It is comprised of seven members elected by district and two members elected at large. Beginning with the 2010 elections, the Mayor of Pensacola will no longer be a member of the City Council; he will instead be an elected executive.

Members of Council earn an annual salary of $13,998. Elections for the Pensacola City Council are non-partisan. In accordance with the new City Charter, Council members elected in 2010 for Districts 2, 4, 6, and At-Large “A” will serve four-year terms.

The District

District 4 comprises much of the southeastern portion of the City, including the East Pensacola Heights and Cordova Park neighbourhoods, and portions of East Hill.

Larry B. Johnson (i)

Larry B. Johnson, elected in 2008, is currently serving his first term on the Pensacola City Council. On November 30, 2009, he became the first sitting Council member to file for reelection after the adoption by referendum of a new City charter.

Mr. Johnson is a small business owner. He previously served on the City’s Zoning Board of Adjustment.
