Racetracker: City Council, District 2

The Pensacola City Council is the legislative body of the City of Pensacola. It is comprised of seven members elected by district and two members elected at large. Beginning with the 2010 elections, the Mayor of Pensacola will no longer be a member of the City Council; he will instead be an elected executive.

Members of Council earn an annual salary of $13,998. Elections for the Pensacola City Council are non-partisan. In accordance with the new City Charter, Council members elected in 2010 for Districts 2, 4, 6, and At-Large “A” will serve four-year terms.

The District

District 2 comprises much of the central and northern parts of the City, including the Pineglades, Parker Circle, Broadview Farms, and Dunmire neighbourhoods.

Courtney Peterson

Courtney Peterson, 30, is an insurance agent and member of the Pensacola Young Professionals. He also served on the City’s Zoning Board of Adjustment. He is also involved with the Pensacola Runners Association. Mr. Peterson filed to run for the seat on November 17, 2009.

Sherri Myers

Sherri Myers is an attorney and longtime advocate for the disabled. She serves on the Escambia-Pensacola Human Relations Commission. She filed to run for the seat on November 18, 2009.
