Incarceration of victims? People who end up incarcerated have committed crimes. They aren’t the victims. The people they rob, kill, etc. are the victims.

    • To be clear, Progressive Pensacola isn’t affiliated with this event in any way or endorsing the rhetoric. We were asked to put out information about the event and would do the same for other organisations.

They also need to get Movement for Change involved. Also address the issue of so many unwed teen mothers, neighborhood gangs etc.

Until this happens there isn’t a thing that can be done.

    • Seeing as though it’s a COMMUNITY forum perhaps you could go and share your ideas with the group.

I agree with “What A Guy” and find the language of this notice truly offensive. Let’s focus on the true victims of crime — and that’s not those who are incarcerated. It’s those who have been victimized by criminals. The fact that this group depicts the criminals as victims speaks volumes. I won’t be attending.

  • I’m sure this group supports the man who used his vehicle to try to run down two Pensacola police officers Friday night. They likely consider him a “victim.” I support our police officers & the difficult job they have to do.

  • It’s no secret that these SCLC folks support redistributive justice. Add that to liberal-progressive theories of social causation and the criminal now becomes the victim. A street march in Oakland a while back celebrated a cop killer and rapist as a hero fighting against oppression.

It’s also no surprise that a lawyer from the so-called U.S. Department of Justice will be on the panel at this SCLC “community” forum. This is the group that is trying 9/11 terrorists in civilian court.
