Happy Birthday, Marty Donovan!
Progressive Pensacola send happy birthday wishes to former City Council member Marty Donovan, who turns 59 today.
Mr. Donovan served four terms as the District 4 representative on Council before being trounced by Larry B. Johnson last year. In the latter part of his tenure, Mr. Donovan became known for his vehement opposition to the Community Maritime Park project and the negative, obstructionist attitude he took following his loss on that issue.
Since leaving the City Council, Mr. Donovan has continues to work against the Maritime Park project. He is currently spearheading a political committee called “No $48 Million Debt” which is trying to collect enough petition signatures to force a referendum on the bond issue/financing plan for the Maritime Park.

Tweet I saw yesterday from @PensacolaBuzz: “Odd. Got a mail-in petition objecting to the 1/12/09 council action seating city council members, “none of whom were named Marty Donovan.”"
Yet again we see a fine example of Pensacola professionalism.
A simple Happy Birthday would have been enough!
