Below is the breakdown of what the Pensacola City Council will consider in the coming week. As always, expenditures are highlighted. Links to the full agendas are included at the bottom of the page.
Note: This meeting will take place on Monday, November 2. The meeting begins at 3:15 PM in the Hagler/Mason Conference Room, second floor, City Hall. The Economic & Community Development Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Community Redevelopment Agency will not meet.
Committee of the Whole
New market tax credits. A presentation and discussion on new market tax credits, which are proposed as part of the Community Maritime Park funding plan, will kick off a very light Committee of the Whole agenda. The presentation will be given by Mr. Richard Miller, the City’s disclosure counsel for bond issuances, his law partner Mr. Steven Paul, as well as Mr. Ed Gray III, who brought the idea of using new market tax credits to the City Council several months ago.
Chamber update. Representatives from the Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce will give Council an update on its efforts.
Neighbourhood Services
Central Garage roof repair. Staff is asking Council to approve a $51,196 contract for the repair of the leaky roof at the City’s Central Garage. The repair will involve coating the roof with a waterproofing seal. The vendor is Advanced Roofing & Waterproofing, LLC, a business located within the City limits.
Enterprise Operations
2009 Street Reconstruction Project. Council will consider approval of the contract for the 2009 Street Reconstruction Project. The contract price is $521,462.50; the vendor is Roads, Inc. of Northwest Florida, a business located in unincorporated Escambia County. The project provides for the reconstruction of 9.5 City blocks, including portions of Joy Street and Schwab and Goodrich Drives.
2010 Street Reconstruction Project. Next, Council will consider the proposed list of streets for the 2010 Street Reconstruction Project. Staff is proposing the reconstruction of four one-block spans, and the repair of an additional nine blocks. The proposed streets are as follows:
- 15th Avenue between la Rua and Jackson Streets (reconstruction)
- de Soto Street between Perry and Pickens Avenues (reconstruction)
- Belmont Street between Tarragona and Guillemard Streets (reconstruction)
- Tunis Street between 14th Avenue and Molaree Street (reconstruction)
- 19th Avenue between Cervantes and Blount Streets (repair)
- Lakeview Avenue between 10th and 12th Avenues (repair)
Airport parking garage. Staff is asking Council to approve a work order with Hatch Mott McDonald for up to $13,560. The order is for professional engineering services in regard to the Pensacola Gulf Coast Regional Airport’s parking garage structure. Airport staff has observed water leaks in the structure, which was constructed in 1999, and is looking to develop a corrective maintenance program.
