Round-up, 09.21.09

A few items we wanted to highlight today:

Thad Cohen profile. We were pleased to see a favourable profile of CRA Director Thad Cohen on the front page of Sunday’s News Journal. Mr. Cohen is an incredible asset to the City.

Bense to stay on as UWF president. The Board of Trustees for the University of West Florida voted Friday to retain Judy Bense as president through March 2012.

Maritime Museum won’t move. The UWF Board also voted not to move the museum to a more sensible site that could have resulted in increased federal tax credits. UWF will instead attempt to accelerate the construction schedule at the current site in an attempt to meet the deadline for the tax credits.

Bryan to run again for Congress. Jim Bryan of Laurel Hill has announced he will again run for Congress in the Panhandle’s First Congressional District in 2010. Mr. Bryan sought the seat last year, losing with 30% of the vote to incumbent Jeff Miller.
