A few items I wanted to highlight today:

Rick Outzen defends the proposed charter. In his weekly “Outtakes” column, Independent News publisher Rick Outzen defends the proposed revisions to the City charter. He takes jabs at City staff and well-connected citizens who Mr. Outzen says “fear losing influence.”

“No Easy Sell for Charter Review.” Despite the publisher’s position, further into today’s Independent News, you’ll find a more balanced view of the charter issue and its chances of passage.

Proposed FY2010 City budget available online. The City has posted the full FY2010 proposed budget online. The full document (link) is 559 pages; for a summary, see the “Budget in Brief” document (link).

Possible Navarre incorporation. The Northwest Florida Daily News reports the status of discussions among Navarre residents on whether or not to incorporate as a municipality. If Navarre did incorporate, it would become Santa Rosa County’s fourth municipality, after the Cities of Milton and Gulf Breeze and the Town of Jay.
