I understand what he is trying to do, but he needs to choose a path. The tree ordinance he is pushing for will stop development of green buildings. The cost of building green is higher and if you have to remove trees to build a green building he whats you to pay more money to build on YOUR LAND. Most people cant afford both. When is it going to end…… Why not pass an ordinance that requires all buildings in the city be built to a green standard and that will solve the issue. Take a standard lot in the city that has not been improved. On the average you will spend 5-10 thousand dollars on tree mitigation to building on it. Why not spend the 5-10 thousand dollars on reusable energy or water conservation according to the Florida Green Building Coalition. You lose some points having to cut down the trees, but you gain alot building energy efficiant buildings. Please Pick a Path that is best!
