A few items I wanted to highlight today:

Rick’s Blog:
“IN celebrates 10th Anniversary”

The Independent News is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Progressive Pensacola wishes them a happy birthday. Both the Independent News and Rick’s Blog are valuable assets to our community. How many stories has Rick Outzen and company broke which the News Journal completely overlooked or was late to the game on?

Join the Independent News for its 10th anniversary party tonight from 5:30-7:00 PM at the Fish House Deck.

Pensapedia: “Henry C. Mustin”

The Pensapedia project reaches 2,000 articles with its piece on Henry C. Mustin, an early naval aviator, for whom Mustin Beach at NAS Pensacola is named.

Maren DeWeese: “Goals”

Pensacola City Councilwoman Maren DeWeese publishes her “top five goals” in advance of Tuesday’s goal-setting session. Rick Outzen of the Independent News has previously published the goals submitted by Councilmen Sam Hall and Larry B. Johnson.

Independent News: “The Buzz”

The Independent News highlights Councilman Larry B. Johnson’s concerns regarding low Council salaries. As Progressive Pensacola has said before, the low salary of Council freezes out young professionals and the middle-class from Council service. It creates a system in which only the wealthy, self-employed, or retired can afford to serve.
