City Council notes

Is the Pensacola City Council getting a little better on meeting length? The committee meetings on Monday only lasted about six hours instead of the seven or eight that has become the norm recently.
Jabberin’ Jerralds
After the last committee meetings, Councilwoman Diane Mack took it upon herself to have a volunteer review video of the meeting to determine which member of Council racked up the most talk time. Jamie Page of the Pensacola News Journal recounts the results for those of us who couldn’t make it down to City Hall:
[Councilman John] Jerralds talked for 35 minutes and 43 seconds, more than any other council member.
He’s unapologetic.
On the council for eight years, he said he’s offering needed history to ensure that new council members don’t repeat past council mistakes. “I don’t think it’s an issue of who talks the most. The issue is what is being said by the person who is speaking,” said Jerralds. “However, I could agree to having shorter meetings.”
Mack came in at second place in the talk tally, with 24 minutes and 28 seconds of chatter.
Councilman Jerralds spoke for eleven whole minutes more than the second most loquacious Council member. Eleven minutes! Our thanks to Councilwoman Mack for the interesting experiment.
Maritime Park Presentation
Councilman Sam Hall has uploaded a copy of the Maritime Park presentation which staff gave to Council on Monday. See Councilman Hall’s blog.
