House reps update, 03.06.09

Here’s what the three Pensacola-area representatives in the Florida Legislature are working on (Boy, am I underwhelmed):
Greg Evers
- HB 501: Specifies changes to Florida’s early learning programs
- HB 515: “Provides for differential rates for oil production tax on tertiary oil adjusted for delivered price; exempts specified oil & gas production from tax for specified period…”
- HB 923: Regulates hoisting equipment used in construction, demolition, or excavation work
- HB 1161: “Provides criminal penalties for person convicted of moving violation that causes or contributes to causing serious injury to or death of person…”
- HB 1347: Specifies laws & rules for mobile home and recreational vehicle parks
- HB 1429: Authorizes elected board of North Okaloosa Fire District to collect user charges & assess user fees
- HB 1431: The Escambia All For One unified government bill
- HB 1499: “Truth in Government Act”; Requires persons who address legislative committees to take oath or affirmation of truthfulness
All of these bills are on their first reading, with the exception of HB 515, which has been placed on the agenda of the Energy & Utilities Policy Committee. See also the Legislature’s site for a list of bills Rep. Evers has cosponsored.
Dave Murzin
- HB 493: Licensure of nursing homes and related health care facilities
- HB 495: “Provides that if person slips & falls on transitory foreign substance in business establishment, injured person must prove that business establishment had actual or constructive knowledge of condition & should have taken action to remedy it…”
- HB 1463: Regulates civil actions against insurers
- HB 1513: Regulates mail-in secondhand dealers of jewelry and precious metals
- HB 1515: Regulates turf and landscape maintenance
- HB 1517: “Revises requirement for corporations to provide annual financial statements to shareholders…”
- HB 7009: Various regulations and expenditures relating to commuter rail service

- HB 141: “Specifies annuity contract protection criteria for senior consumers.”
- HB 187: “Revises fee charged for initial & renewal registration of certain automobiles & trucks…”
- HB 745: Creates a study group to “evaluate creation of prepaid service plan for children with disabilities”
- HB 959: Regulates credit counseling services
- HB 1175: Regulates the recovery, towing & storage of vehicles & vessels
- HB 1243: “Prohibits secretly viewing, for specified purposes, either under or through clothing being worn by another person without that person’s knowledge or consent to view body of, or undergarments worn by, that person.”
