Sink won’t run for Senate

Florida CFO Alex Sink has announced that she will not seek Florida’s open U.S. Senate seat in 2010.

This is good news from my point of view. For one, I prefer Democratic Congressman Kendrick Meek for the Senate seat. Ms. Sink has her heart set on the governorship, anyway — and with her management background, that’s really where she’d be best suited. Sink will run for re-election as CFO in 2010, and barring the earth being taken over by aliens, she’ll run for governor when Crist is term-limited out in 2014.

Congressman Meek is thus far the only announced candidate. Former Speaker of the Florida House, Marco Rubio, a Republican, is an unannounced but likely candidate. A decisions is expected soon from Democratic state senator Dan Gelber. Keep track of all the other rumours and possible candidates at our Racetracker page.
