Nobles on Hall’s early exit

Sean Boone of the Independent News has an interview with lame duck Councilman Jack Nobles up on Rick’s Blog.

Councilman Nobles has tempered his rhetoric.  After the meeting last Thursday, I overheard Nobles describing Councilman Hall’s early exit as “just about the lowest thing” he’d seen in his political career.

Now he’s calling it “unfortunate,” although he does go on to insinuate that Councilman Hall lacks integrity.

Well Sam Hall insinuates that its Jack Nobles fault he is in the spotlight right now.

Sam Hall needs to be gone.

  • Robert: Not to absolve Sam, but this story would have died already if it wasn’t for Nobles fueling the fire.

I can remember offhand several times Nobles hasn’t bothered to show up at all for a meeting.

Sam didn’t handle it as well as he could have. Maybe he made the wrong decision. Either way — it’s no worse than the many bad decisions Nobles has made on Council.

  • Hall found himself as the deciding vote .

What did Hall think was going to happen when he accepted contributions and pledged his support to BOTH sides of the port issue?

  • Read his post and the comments about the one sided lease.

Would have been nice to hear ANY of the council discuss the infamous one sided lease, and how such a lease was negotiated by our CITY STAFF

    but that didn’t happen.

  • Derek,

Jack Nobles had nothing to do with this. I emailed Sam right after the council meeting and he wouldnt say where he went. I also emailed you and few others asking if you had any idea what this mysterious meeting in Atlanta was.

I hope Sam doesnt play poker because he doesnt have much of a poker face. I knew he was lying. That isnt the same as a bad decision. He lied to me. He lied to you. He lied to the city council and he lied to city of pensacola.

He lost all trust and all respect.

  • Mostly because it affected you and your business Robert. 95% of the rest of Pensacola couldn’t care less. He felt like his hand was being forced and felt like he was being coerced into a vote he thought was premature. Quit crying on every local blog and realize this for what it really is, a councilperson leaving a meeting early…something that happens ALL of the time. You’re not that special. Jack Nobles is the one feeding the story, which I think is a riot as he is one of the worst concilmen on doing what’s good for him.

  • Evan,

Has nothing to do with any business Im in. If the lease was one sided why didnt he stay and vote.

This is the same guy who berated city employees for taking breaks when temperatures were around 100 degrees. Same guy who says he is adimately against the Good Ol’ Boy way of governing. This is about as Good Ol’ Boy as it gets.

  • Evan — Sorry, but council members don’t leave early all the time . I’ve never seen any other member leave early. Hall’s behavior was unacceptable & his lies only made it worse. He should have stayed, made his point & voted.

  • FROM PNJ

“Councilman Mike Wiggins, who is the incoming mayor, said he could not fault Hall’s actions.

“He wasn’t dishonest. His explanation was that he was going out of town, and I have no evidence that what he said was not the truth,” he said.”

    Uh…

What about the report from Mr. Pate that he went to see Hall at his home and Hall admitted he ducked and ran rather than vote??

  • I expected more from Sam. He was elected as a breath of fresh air from these games and lies. I didn’t expect him to become a clone of Nobles & DeSorbo and start playing the same games with his attendance on important voting. He should have been there and voiced his mind. You don’t oversome deceit by practicing more deceit Sam. I am deeply offended as a taxpayer. Grow some balls. Show up for the meetings or resign. Stop hiding in your house while collecting your city paycheck.

  • Sorry about the spelling error. Should have read “overcome”

  • Nobles and the rest of the council are “disappointed” with Hall, onlly because he got caught doing what they have done routinely in the past. And then Hall went on to explain the political manuevering behind what he did. Highlighting the political shinanigans that goes on with every council vote.

  • Hall’s blog ?

For some reason, suddenly he has very little to say about anything going on in this city.

  • yep

Sam’s blog is virtually doa unless you want to read about a pet passing away, national events, or simulated poverty exercises. All city council members should attend that exercise as the city’s financial status could be affected by the agenda items of this board:

ignored staff pension shortfalls, bloated budgets, free fire service to the county on city’s dime, and the qua$i government cmp negotiation$ and actions of the principals on that board for the give away dollar leases with the primary economic impact being construction contracts to build the thing.

    what next?
