Help our Council members retire

We have a few members of Council who have put in years of service, have reached that retirement age, but they just keep on going.

I can only assume they are workaholics and they need our help to retire.

Let’s help these Council members out:

Mike DeSorbo, District 3
Age: 71
Years of service on Council: 20

Ronald Townsend, District 7
Age: 75
Years of service on Council: 6

Jack Nobles, District 8 (At-Large)
Age: 56
Years of service on Council: 14

Mike Wiggins, District 9 (At-Large)
Age: 63
Years of service on Council: 14

Well said. It’s time for some new, and younger blood on the Council with fresh ideas and passion. The incumbents have had their chance to do great things. If they haven’t succeeded together after an average of 18 years on the Council, then they NEVER will. Together they were the strongest voting block and could have pushed anything they wanted through, yet they didn’t push anything good through. Wiggins NOW talks about a library. Hello! you had 14 years and two extensions of the Local Option Sales Tax yet you did NOT build us a new downtown library! Wiggins NOW talks about cleaning up this city. Hello! You’ve been on the Clean and Green Council for 20+ years and haven’t worked to clean ANYTHING up. Don’t ask me what accomplishments DeSorbo can point to after TWENTY years on the Council. Nothing, nadda, zip unless you count being rude to citizens who dare come to meetings. They have watched jobs and people leave and watch our city become dirtier and dirtier. Maybe they don’t travel, but everywhere I go looks cleaner and more attractive than Pensacola. We can do better and the citizens just need some support. Give us that support by sending these guys into retirement and electing Mack, Pratt, Hall, and C.J. Lewis.

  • They have scratched their heads while folks move AWAY from the downtown neighborhoods, and the library looks like a homeless shelter.

Apparently they like the city to loo being designated as a Brownfield to being called downtown and getting an extra 2 mill tax.

    They haven’t helped.

    Happy retirement Wiggins and DeSorbo

I can’t support Hall anymore because I don’t support policy being set based on who bullies the council.

  • Sam Hall need to be dismissed. He is in bed with “Movement For Change” lead by LeRoy Boyd that has in more than once insulted our elected leaders. He has never stood up for an elected position just throw stones. My bigger concern is what compact has Sam Hall made with LeRoy Boyd for him to endorse Hall and campain for Hall. Has Hall made a promise to support Boyd’s demands? What about district 2? Does Boyd have some hold over Hall?

  • @V W:

I disagree. Hall is a good Councilman. Trust me — it would be so much worse had he not been around the last 2 years.

I think his relationship with Mr. Boyd and MFC is a genuine attempt to reach out to the community represented by Mr. Boyd, which feels underserved and underrepresented. Sure, there are other political reasons. District 2 has not suffered because of this relationship. I think Hall has been the best representative for District 2 in eons.

I have a list of problems with Councilman Hall, and we are on opposite sides of important issues — but he is part of the solution, not part of the problem.

  • Mr. Process- Sam Hall

He’s officially one of the boys.
