PNJ backs Ford

The Pensacola News Journal has endorsed Republican incumbent Clay Ford over Democratic challenger Lumon May in the race for State House District 3.

Thankfully, the PNJ does not have the best track record with their endorsements this year.

District 3 includes much of the City of Pensacola and the surrounding urban areas, as well as Gulf Breeze “proper”.  To say that Ford, a wealthy retiree from Gulf Breeze, is out of touch with the needs and priorities of District 3 would be a massive understatement.

Lumon May has built his life on service to his community, whether through his work with the Salvation Army, his family construction company, or the Southeastern Youth Sports Association.  He not just the kind of representative District 3 should have; he is the kind of representative District 3 needs.
